For those who can't leave well enough alone, yes a 4-motor LiteStick. If this madness appeals to you and you don't already the props sitting around, I'd suggest getting U-80 props since they'll give you more thrust for the same current as the B-2 props.
- Take two sets of Wattage B-2 bomber motors and props.
- Take the short front wing mount from the standard LiteStick and glue a piece of balsa at the angle of the mount to stick the motors on.
- Slide it on the fuselage stick next to the wing and rubber band the 150 mAh pack in front of the motors for balance.
- Use a 10 amp ESC. These are little motors are amp pigs and they will shut down a 5 amp ESC.
- Set the rudder for max deflection as you would with any twin -- you'll need it.
The Herk-Stick is on it's 5th flight and sounds like a swarm of angry hornets. It flies about 2min with the 6x150 pack and longer with a 350 pack. I tried a 7 cell pack but it did not seem to fly any better because of too much drag.
If you enjoy a great flying plane then don't change anything but if you look at it and wonder then give it a try. It flies pretty good for a 4 motor plane.
Be prepared and don't get offended that when you take it out, your flying buddies will not stop laughting until it flies. Just remember that if it was somebody else's plane you'd be laughing too (:-)
I (still) take my hobby seriously.
Tom ColeAnother good option would be to make a twin using 2 Kenway KR-1 motors.
You can get the B-2 type Mabuchi motors, U-80 props or KR-1 motor / prop combo from various folks. Two good guys to use are Dave Lewis at HOMEFLY.com and Ken Bassett at:
Kenway Micro Flight The props are around $2 each, the motors are under $10 but I don't know how much exactly. The KR-1s are around $20 each (including prop).
