3-Stick Tx
|
| |
I did this a few years ago when I needed a tx that had 3 controls that worked in the Y-axis (up and down) for use with my submarine. If I was building a submarine I could simply use a Hitec 3SS tx which has built-in mixing but this was not available at the time and the sub was a little crowded (:-) to add an on-board mixer.I'm showing the changes here not because this is needed mod, but rather to show that with a little patience and creativity even complicated-looking problems can be solved in fairly reasonable ways.

You can buy a tx like the one shown here for less than the price of a mixer alone and my mods using nothign more fancy than Plastruct rods and 4-40 threaded rods for the sticks works very, very well and is very sturdy and useable.
Unless you have a lot of training and instuments to back you up there's nothing at all useful you can do by working on the radio's circuit board (and it's very easy to damage or de-tune it), but there's no reason to be afraid of working on the controls themselves if you have an unusual situation that isn't met by the normal layout.
