SEFLI May 2001 Meeting

These are just a few of the planes that showed up. If you want to see all the planes please see the directions elsewhere on the site and come the meetings (:-)

Dominick Antonelli showing his new Fokker DVIII.
(I think it's a Herr kit but I'm not sure anymore)

Jimmy Reed explaining some of the features of a plane designed to cross Long Island Sound non-stop.
X-SOUNDER progress at the June Meeting.

Gerhardt Spielman didn't bring any airplanes this month, but he brought something else interesting. It seems that he was bored this winter, didn't have any airplane kits awaiting his attention .... so he decided to make a 1/10 scale model of his Bridgeport milling machine. Everything on the model works, including all the adjustments, slides, controls and pivots. There is a tiny motor mounted in the scale location that turns tiny tool bits through a scale belt and pulley arrangement.
The only non-scale details is that he added a teeny-tiny nut to hold the crank lever that raises / lowers the bed so he wouldn't lose the crank, and that he didn't engrave the cursive name "Bridgeport" in the side of the main casting because this would have been much too much like real work (:-)

Gerhardt's really cool twin electric Lazy Bee
